Complete.
There once was a girl ridden with grief, her child had died and been taken from her by the cruel claws of fate. She wanders the streets with staring eyes not noticing, only fantasising. “Keep away from that” The mothers tell their children, “She brings nothing but sadness and darkness”.
One day the girl wakes from her ancient slumber, woken from her grieving state by a beautiful man, he walks arm in arm with a woman. Driven hopeless with lust the girl follows him overwhelmed by years of buried emotions.
She realizes that the man merely glances her way once, but she continues to follow. Eventually dismissed by the man’s partner the girl goes back into a grievous state hopelessly in love with an impossible reality.
She continues to watch the man keeping her distance, the sight of him dazes her as would a powerful drug; she does not trouble to sleep, eat or on occasion breathe, because she knows that if she turns for one second the man would slip away. The world is not complete without him.
One day the man’s lover passes on, leaving the man alone, widowed and left with no motivation to continue along the path of his perfect life. Driven mad he too takes to the streets not troubling to take in the stares that come his way because of his profound transformation. But soon people start not to take notice, the girl still watches, noticing a likeness between her and the man now, but not daring to approach.
Eventually the extreme conversion takes its toll, the man is dragged into terrible sickness and when he wakes he finds the girl by his side, nursing him back to life, for she will not be beaten by the claws of fate now, when true attainment is so close.
The man takes in the girl, realizing how she was always there, just beyond reach, always part of the background. She lives a fruitful life with the one she has fought so hard find, bonded by their shared loss of the one they love, the man and the woman are finally complete.
They hold each other finally happy to do so; they fall down to the place that seemed so close yet so far when they were not together. But now they are complete and ready, to die.
