The Magician's
"Is the experiment stlil running?" I ask, the air is empty the two people, the magician Neitwishe and his sister have gone... So whacked out, I fall asleep, a small round in a large .bed. In my dreams the rain falling over the smoking lava flow...
I awake to a large bang outside the door, it's utterly dark. I moved purposely across the house and scan through the peephole into the street. Whoever it was - has gone. Now it's quiet. As if the bang was in a dream. The whole house is set into split time. Outside is another world.
I pick up the 2-ply knitting, sit back into the chair, and suddenly as I knit the world into order, they come back into the scope of the inner eye. He's hunched over the machine, hands moving ove the buttons, his eyes seemed fixed. He has larger legs than I expect, almost kangaroo like. Perhaps that's why I had the impression of weight.
She's with him, sharp as vinegar. "Promise that you won't do it again," she says. I listen.
He mumbles like a small boy caught in a misdemeanor.
"It's no good," she continues, "They get everywhere, as they did last time. We had such trouble clearing them out!"
He says something carefully, out of hearing range.
I ask her directly, "Was it these people here you had? The ones that do inthe voices and cause all the trouble?"
Her voice rises in a scream of fury, "It's no good you talking to me my dear! When it comes down to it, you might have held his attention in a chat channel for years and years. If we bring you here, you're vermin!"
Neitwhishe laughs, "She was easy to talk too!" then a pause, and a cool, "I could put her on a harp."
"She has no idea about us at all." She yells totally out of control.
"Is the experiment sitll running?" I ask again, "Is this one of the psychic experiments on children from the castle?"
"Be quiet!" she returned furious, "To think I should speak to you!" I suddenly felt cold fear, I knew who this woman was, and why she was here, literature was showing me. "I need subsidence! It's a matter of eggs! We told you before!"
"Dragon eggs?" I asked, knowing that F'Nor had come and gone.
"Am I a Dragon?" she asked Neitwishe curiously.
"I told her not to leave the internet rooms or I would have to and get her." he said pulling his machine off the table and lumbering away to the back of the room.
Suddenly I was Alice, and the pack of cards was rising high in the air. I fled towards the bed, said my prayers, banished them both from earth with God's help, and slipped into solid sleep, where I could not dream them anymore.
I wandered upstairs to bed, and heard the nightly misdirection chorus, a young voice at a door, stating someone wasn't here, and would they go look elsewhere...!" All the years I've heard these people saying this and that, I;ve always wondered is any of it real?
