Cardiff

A tall sturdy pine
With irregular crown
Stands guard
Over weaver balcony
And post office basking.

Shallow roof tops
And chimney clusters
Shelter in it's shadow.

The glare of sun on sea
Stabs needle fingers
Through the dark fir.

Across the bay
Island mountain houses of light and dark
Lurk in mist haze shadows.

And a city clustered in sandy bay
Peers out of the rain wall
Crawling down from the hills.
