Pounding,
In the darkness,
In the spaces between the worlds,
Between the sunlight and the shadow,
Between the silver raindrops,
Beneath the falling moon.
Pounding,
Through sinew and vein,
Through tissue and bone,
Into the lungs, into the bladder,
Into the secret corners of my mind.
Pounding,
All along the road,
Through valley and dale,
In the dry river bed,
And the great lake,
In the roots of mountains,
And the oceans blood.
Pounding,
Against the iron door,
Against the grey stone,
In the cellars and graves,
In the cloister and crypt,
At the altar of life.
Pounding,
In your scattered whispers,
In your forgotten smile,
And the memories now lost,
Of your warmth in my soul.
