Reflections on an Empty Page

Part One
she sleeps in rays of golden light
where sunlight falls on distant sands
and as I watch the wheels turn
I feel the pressures of fates hands
I grasp the power and hold it tight
and whisper to the cloistered halls
shake out the shadows from my mind
break down their dark and blistered walls
Part Two
death sprinkles
his black dust
around her bed
and I trace
the contours of her smile
my prayers echo
off the naked walls
and taunt me
with their emptiness
and in the last colour
of her eyes
I paint a memory with my tears
while she sleeps
in the arms of forever
and I am alone
on this winter night
Part Three
she sits in the corner of a forgotten bar
and laughs with the friends that are lost
her face is lit up by the radiant past
not drowned in the ice and the frost
in the music of life I have waited here
and hidden my smile from her eyes
I have loved and have lost through forgotten years
been bewitched and beguiled by their lies
I am free from the pain that imprisoned my soul
that gripped at my heart like a vice
the chains that once bound now lie on the ground
and are broken and shattered like ice
