THE TRUMAN SHOW
This all has a very old familiar ring to it, a man trapped in a small
seaside village, every aspect of his life observed and controlled. Any
attempt to leave is thwarted in a seemingly innocent yet disturbingly
normal way. As he begins to discover the truth he believes he is going
mad, everyone tells him he's going mad, he doesn't know who to trust
and in the
end trusts no one.
But Jim Carey is wrong for the part, he's too young, to happy, too
American. It should be played by someone about ten years older, with a
darker look on life, and an English accent. And at the end instead of
just saying goodbye and leaving he should say something like "I am not
a soap opera, I'm a free
man!" or "Entertainment! You want Entertainment, well you won't get
it!".
It's THE PRISONER. It's the fucking PRISONER. It's Portmeiron (sp?),
it's
rover, it's the Village, number 2 and number 6. I mean the "director"
is a spitting image for the bald bloke in the observation room. And the
concrete boat that never goes anywhere, just like the bus, the plane,
the ferry.
Don't they make any new films anymore?
Be seeing you.
