Radio for all occasions

Naked
he emerges from the bed
and leaves the room
the sounds of radio speak on the alarm
follows him
softly
Down the stairs

He grabs the blue towelling dressing gown from it's home on
the banister and pushs open the bathroom door
another radio (waterproof) provides a sound track to his activity

he doesn't look in the mirror until he has dried himself with the soft
yellow towel
which he then places on the radiator

in the kitchen, another radio (wind-up) provides early morning
exercise
as he replenishes the kettle and awaits the boil
instant coffee meets boiling water
barefoot steps to the fridge

coffee, ashtray, cigarettes, lighter accompany him to the sofa
and breakfast tv

then the great morning search begins
tie, shirt, socks and pants
with two safely located and adorning his
chunky frame
he commences the ironing ritual which ends every morning

and no, he didn't do it the night before
or spend hours ironing everything on a Sunday afternoon
he just didn't

a slightly less creased shirt enfolds itself over his upper body
and a knotted tie completes the look

the watch provides good news, time for another cigarette
an early morning bonus
