Left Handed Day.

Yesterday was Left-Handed Day! That caught my eyes as I read about this man.
He was and is very famous. He was the top of his game.
As time went by, he had affairs and this broke up his marriage, this was not a secret, he had spoken of it.
After his marriage broke up, that was when his depression started.
He then quit his job, for a season, he closed the curtains and drank whisky and smoked, all while watching the telly!
After that bout of depression, he came back stronger with his job, again went to the very top! He was revered by fans all over the world.
His depression caught up with him and he attempted suicide in 2022. It took him a long time to recover from that.
He had two children from his first marriage, and had two children from his second marriage.
His anxiety and depression, was very severe, even though he seemed to be mentally strong to us all. To look at he was in perfect fit, health. His Daughter said, “Mental illness is a real disease and can affect anyone. It was strange to see this person trapped in the body of Dad.”
He was awarded an MBE in 2006 and a street in Sri Lanka bears his name, after he organised a benefit match that raised one and a half million pounds to rebuild the village of Maggona, after it was devastated by the 2004 tsunami.
His family wanted us to know how he died, by suicide, as they wanted it in the open, about his struggles and to raise awareness about depression and suicide.
His daughter said, “He had loved life and loved us, but he just couldn’t see a way out. It as heartbreaking to see how withdrawn he had become; he was not the same person.”
He died age just 55.
Cricket legend Graham Thorpe.
RIP.
