Was thinking some more about the Hostages, I thought of those family members and very close friends of theirs, who have had babies and those whose parents have since died, without knowing the outcome, and were unable to bid farewell.
Both my next door neighbours on either side of me, have Free Palestine, on their houses. Both neighbours are very nice, they have lived their for many years, we have lived there, decades more than both of them, they often give us beautiful homemade food.
Both families have children under 8 years old, one of the Free Palestine, on the house, was hand drawn by one of the young children.
When I was 8 years old, I had never heard of Palestine, the only thing I had heard of at that age was “Samson, the Philistines are upon you.” Judges Chapter 16 verse 20 from the Bible.
Religion and Parents have strong influences on their children, and how they are brought up. In a way, it is not our War, so far away. Yet in a way, it affects us all as adults, and their very strong views are passed on, onto the children, possibly forever!
Meghan makes a very good point, when she says, “Mum if you were brought up in a Muslim country, you would be Muslim.” I can’t argue with that, for that is true! If I was brought up in Malta, I would be Catholic. I was brought up in England, hence I am Christian. All the schools I went to were Christian schools. At our infant’s school at Lunch time, we all said, “Grace.” At my junior school, we had Harvest Festivals, and sang fabolous songs. We had a proper Church next door, with a steeple and we always went there at Christmas, and Easter and other Christian events in the calendar. At my Secondary school, we had Assembly, and sang a Hymns each morning. All the songs of my youth have now disappeared, unknown to my kids, and grandchild.
Someone who I work with, said to me, “I HATE the Jews!” I was shocked, but didn’t reply. I thought what would happen if a Jewish person came to work with us? Would that person leave? Or would World War three start?
Only in England, is it wrong to hang outside your own home, the Union Jack!
The thing is, Other Countries, KEEP Their Traditions STRONG!!!!
