TRAINING.

Since covid, we have had training on zoom!
This week I had training at home on zoom, I was on my own, with no ‘expert,’ to help me, as Meghan was at work. I was frightened to press a button to even make the screen bigger.
The training was diabetes.
I have had this in the past, many years ago. It was scary to be told, that there are lots of people out there with it worldwide, and scary to know how many thousands in the United Kingdom, with diabetes, but don’t know they have it.
People were asked, “What is your number?” Some knew, I said, “I have never known my number.”
That diabetes, can cause bad eyes, bad feet, so much so, that toes or feet can be amputated. The pictures were awful. We were shown huge lumps on the tummy where the person didn’t move the needle around the body, but kept using the same part. These two huge lumps will not ever go down, it looked like two boobs on the tummy.
From all of the training, for me the worst part was that it can cause strokes!
After the training, it was a sobering thought. The Trainer told us of things she did to prevent her getting diabetes, as she is borderline and I even felt that I too should change my lifestyle! I’m in my 60’s I had told them in the training, “I have a very sweet tooth.” And said, “I sometimes have cake and custard for breakfast.” To me that’s normal, I know it is not for most people. The Trainer, then said, “You need to check your number.”
Later, with the thoughts of the training still in my mind and strokes, I decided not to buy my usual sweets! Like that would make a difference, but you have to start somewhere. I did buy cakes though.
The next day, I was back to normal, I bought my sweets. No one in my close family has diabetes. I know two people with diabetes and one of them, is sadly no longer with us.
