What Would I Take?

It all seems a bit sketchy, it felt to me, like bits of news, here and there. The news that came to me, seemed to me did not seem to start at the beginning.
I first heard about a woman, who had her one-year-old baby, who had fallen into the water, “For two seconds!” Now two seconds does not sound like a long time, but to put a baby under the water for two seconds, breathing in and out, a lot could have happened. Could a baby have drowned in the very short time? Would most adults have drowned in the short time, or would they be able to hold their breathe in that time, or panic? I can’t swim, I don’t know what I would have done, in the dark.
The woman said, “I picked her up, and held her above the water, with all my strength.” I thought about that baby, throughout the day, and wondered, in the future, will she love or hate the water forever! Hopefully her Mum will teach her to swim, and that she will love the water. I wish them both well.
Then I heard about the superyacht. That is more than a yacht, it is a superyacht. I googled the price of one tonight and they cost depending on length from one million to eighty million, WOW that is mega bucks.
Meghan asked tonight when I told her about it, she said, “What makes it a superyacht, I thought everyone was just on top with nothing below?” I said, “I assume there would be a bedroom, a lounge, a kitchen a shower room, with lots of gold handles and taps, and the rest, to make it super.”
Then I heard about a man who was in a fraud case, and he was very rich, and was found not guilty. Meghan said, “He was innocent?” I said, “We don’t know, but we do know in life, some very rich can …. be found not guilty.”
Then we were informed, many had been rescued and were safe, fifteen I think the number is. How excited they all were, when they were invited on the superyacht. The very best of everything would have been on there.
One person was confirmed dead. Later on, we were told it was the cook. I was thinking, how excited he would have been to be a cook on the superyacht.
Then I heard, that one of the missing men had defended the man who was accused. To celebrate not going to jail, but freedom the man invited people to his superyacht.
Then a huge storm hit. Suddenly the superyacht became a tiny little boat.
A diving team the following day, would go down to the superyacht, they would have ten minutes to make a hole to search the superyacht, for the six missing people.
The man who was acquitted for fraud, his lawyer, a wife, and an eighteen-year-old daughter of one of the men. It was reported that, they might be alive in an air pocket. I thought of the millionaire dad and his reluctant son who didn’t want to go down, in the tiny pod. The news had said, “They would be ok with plenty of air, for a few days,” But it sadly turned out, they had died instantly, as the pod went inwards.
Today, the news was that five people had been found dead! It made me think, how can they have died? It wasn’t as if they were in a big building, many floors up, one could have been in the shower, the other in a lift, another could have banged their head in the storm as the little boat tossed about in the raging waves?
It also made me think of the past, when at work we would have fire training, and the fire tutor would tell us, “Do not take anything with you, just leave at the nearest fire escape.” I suppose people in history have died in fires, because they could not leave the burning building without a certain item.
I wondered, if one of the deceased, decided, instead of leaving for safety, maybe decided to go downstairs to get something important to them. But then was unable to make it back out. I thought of the divers, cutting open the superyacht, and seeing all that wealth, gold taps, jewellery, and wallets, of those dead and alive.
Today, I did feel a bit sad, thinking of those who died, they must have been terrified! There are things we can’t escape from, they say, “Death and Taxes,” But that isn’t exactly true, for many millions around the world, get away with paying taxes. I heard that in Monaco, the rich do not have to pay tax, only those who live there, have to pay.
Death on the other hand, no one can escape. If a person is rich or poor, black or white, educated or not, beautiful or not, full of love or hate, old or young, religious or not, healthy eating or not, goes to the gym or never goes.
If this man had not won the court case, he would be alive today.
