Anyone else but you

You are phoning me,
but not today,
If we do talk tomorrow,
which we will
I'll say sorry,
my phone was on silent
in another room
and I had an early night
you know how hectic
it has been recently
especially now that I'm
moving house again
I need so much energy for
interaction
I don't know how other people
do it. I once posted my phone
to France, My friend moved there
last year, to the outskirts of Paris
and those few days
while my calls and messages
were being sent to a switched off
phone in a post box
and then a sorting office,
then across the British Channel
on some kind of post boat
full of letters written to people
who have moved to France for love
an pen pal conversations
going back to the 1970s
and when the phone was posted back
to me I phoned you and said
we need to get better at this.
