Bringing things to the table

I know almost nothing about Canada

the things I do know are so obvious

it's pointless to even mention them

and I don't intend to learn anything

or to do any research, but maybe

in ten years time there might be

reasons for me to know the geography

of Canada, the climate, the variations

of local dialects the cancelled TV soaps,

their Saturday night shows, the names

of ice hockey plays cruelly overlooked

by the national team, the political scandals

forever replayed on the news.

Maybe there'll be a reason.
