I don’t know where this toughness came from.
It’s like that big jumper in the spare room
no idea who left it here
we sent an email after the party.
“Anyone leave their jumper behind?”
but no reply and I’m glad
because it keeps me warm on my walks,
comfier than my other jumpers.

Really great, toughness:

Really great, toughness: something we put on that isn't really us, but that makes us feel safe and invulnerable anyway. Such a simple image. This is distilled poetry. I wish I could get my expression this pure.
Thanks.
Thanks for reading. I am grateful for your time.
