Behind The Castle’s Walls
By Paul McCann
Minard castle on the hill, Is beautifully standing still ,
looking back at times gone past .
In between the stones and clay, are memories of a day
that has long since us gone past.
Within the ruins I sat and tried to imagine what
people did away back then .
Was there tea with bread and jam
or poached eggs with some smoked ham
for all the hard working men .
Where the people of good faith and did they always feel safe
Behind the castle walls there .
Will these walls ever fall down, with memories to the ground
left for no one else to share ,
.

A reflective poem of a place
A reflective poem of a place in time.
I feel the same when I visit very old castles and wonder what the people were like.
Enjoyed reading.
