Book A Seat And Take A Look At The Paris Olympic Games
By Paul McCann
If the Olympic games was a book , how should it begin and where would it end . There are so many chapters with so many stories . I would imagine that there would be a book mark in the middle somewhere with the story of Pierre De Coubertin who was the brainchild of the modern day Olympic games .
He heard the call and responded to the need for an Olympic revival in 1892 and in 1894 came a resolution to hold an international Olympic Games in Athens which was a success ...
One hundred years ago in 1924 Coubertin retired from the international Olympic committee and lived out the remainer of his life quietly . Before he died he made a request that on his death his heart would be removed from his body and placed near the ruins of ancient Olympia.. He died in 1939 and his body was buried in Lausanne, however his heart was buried in the place he desired in near Olympia,
Looking back now to the beginning of the book about the Olympic games the first chapter tells a story of a man called Jason who sparked an event in back in Olympia in 776BC . In that time Jason and the Argonauts began a sporting event in Olympia where no one was awarded a gold medal for winning , it was just a social event for men to come and show off their superior speed , strength and stamina . A small crowd would have assembled to watch the games encouraging and supporting all of those involved .
That flame still exists today many thousands of years later . The concept and the challenge to be champion is a strong today as it ever was , Each generation of athletes train for that one moment every four to compete with the best in their chosen field .
For the first time in history the opening ceremony of the Olympic games will not take place inside a stadium . The Paris games of 2024 will have the opening ceremony in the century of the city .
The Paris Olympics has a budget of $10 Billion to cover the cost to cover this global event with 329 events contesting in 32 different sports . On television networks billions of people will be watching the Olympic games around the world with a great opportunity for the host nation to show off their capital city to their first class armchair seat audience . Other resources would be on place and computer software experts would have already made highly advanced game terminals for visitors and the global market to try to compete against well known athletes in on line versions of an artificial Olympic games that brings in a sense of fantasy as well to the modern day Olympic games .
At the Paris Olympics there will be 30,000 police officers and gendarmes, reinforced by 15,000 military personnel. There will also be between 17,000 and 22,000 private security guards at the Olympic venues and in the fan zones. Security in the modern day games has become a priority in every event staged . Some areas around the host city would be overspilling with visitors arriving to and from venues , the chaos of transporting those from the Stadium would be an awesome task in itself .
With 206 nations competing in the Paris games there is already 15 million visitors expected along with 10,500 athletes and their families , plus all the officials and members of the media . Further to that all of these people will require accommodation during their stay in Paris . An estimated 13 million meals and snacks will be served during the Games.
Added attractions on the side would be groups of musicians , street theatre and others out and about around the city to provide entertainment for all the visitors . There would be many people who own private homes renting out their properties for visitors in the duration of the games .
No doubt highly priced chateaus would be plentiful on the market with their owners cashing in on the moment as most of the big hotels would have been booked out well in advance . Paris has been waiting for this and they have cleaned up their city streets and put out the welcome mat because all the world is coming to visit . There are many who already deserve a medal for the hard work that’s been done even before the games start .It’s a vastly different story to the first chapter of the book when Jason kicked it off and yet there we can measure the change and see how far we have come . Take a look and see for yourself . Its an open book .
The End
