Bring Him Home

Abducted at the airport there

and bundled into a  car ,

taken to the Netherlands

by the Government in power .

 Not knowing where he was going ,

illegally he was flown, 

far away from friends and family ,  

come on now bring him home .

 

It was springtime over in Europe

in 2025, crowd’s on the  streets  

stayed and prayed , 

Lord , bring Deturte  home alive.

  

The president stood alone    ,

with the decisions that he made  ,

 now like a criminal he waits

in detention at the Hague .

 

As President of the Philippines

he declared war on drugs

and he tried to stop corruption

and confronted all  the thugs  .

He gave them a warning ,

but a slap on the wrist wouldn’t  do , 

so then with a  heavy hand

an iron fist Duterte threw  .

 

Being cruel to be kind ,

Duterte did the best he could 

to protect people and country 

as any president would .

 

At 79 he’s sitting in a prison all alone .

The Philippine people are crying out ,

come on bring him home .

Interesting topic! I have now frantically Googled because I turn a blind eye to the news, too much sadness, bias and war, I must thank you for the education.

Google mentions 6,000 deaths? Again, I do not pay much attention to bias. However, many men and women in the West are thrown into jail for minor drug charges, likely to reoffend. Probably a good deterrent to be on trial rather than jail for a few months in a drug crime.

I'm not sure the best way forward on the war on drugs, above my pay grade, but whatever is happening, it's not working.
