Every Now And Then
By Paul McCann
There are times in life when karma comes to bring grief on those who have done wrong to other people and then there other times when karma would come to help those who have always done the right thing by others .
Every now and then karma will allow you to see what she can do .
Mac struggled to get through most of his daily activities and his parents were not able to assist him anymore so he was put into a children’s hospice with his health condition . Things started to happen from the very first day he was put into care . He called it karma in action that came to alleviate all the challenges he had to face everyday in his life .
There was a lady that he had never saw before who would come to give him a massage that brought healing to his sore muscles and these other strangers would come each day with medicine for him . Then there were others who changed his bed sheets and washed his clothes for him . Mac never knew who these kind people were but he was so glad they were there to help[ .
Other nice people helped him to get dressed and take him out to different places during the day . He felt cared for and protected . Some times when he tried to walk he felt hands around him that helped him keep his balance .
Karma was in control .
Barry was one of those people who worked in the children’s hospice for all the wrong reasons . Every now and then he would abuse some of those who were put into his care . As a registered nurse he had access to the cupboard that kept the prohibited drugs and often helped himself to those without ever being caught . Jenny was also another registered nurse who worked at the children’s hospice and she had suspected Barry was stealing some of the drugs from the cupboard because during his shift the count of drugs in the cupboard never added up . It was always wrong . Then there was another issue as sometimes when bruises appeared on the residents , it was always the day after Barry had dome night shift . There were also a lot of incident reports on his shifts with accidental falls being made and other injuries that had occurred during his shift . This prompted her to place some hidden cameras around the medications room and other public places in the hospice Barry was caught red handed on the some of the camera’s stealing drugs and abusing some of the residents .
He was escorted in hand cuffs from the hospice and placed in remand without bail to face multiple criminal charges until his court hearing but he tried to escape custody and broke away as the officers took him from the police van to the prison and he ran across a busy road and in doing so was hit by a car that sent his head first into as pole . He sustained a brain injury that would require full time care for the rest of his life .
Karma was in control .
Chris returned after the war to resume normal everyday life . As a soldier he had seen a lot of his comrades loose their lives and now as a civilian he was told to get on his life as if nothing had ever happened . He was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and couldn’t fit back to everyday life so he became homeless and used alcohol to cut away some of his anger and bitterness . One night as he was standing begging outside the liquor store
a well dressed lady was making her way along the side walk when a mugger stole her handbag .She screamed for help and Chris sprung into action and was able to tackle the thief and bring him to the ground where he held him until the lady arrived . He handed her back the handbag and then he asked her to ring the police to have the thief arrested .
Chris was wearing a worn shabby jacket , with pants full of holes and old boots on his feet , but there was one thing she noticed , only because her late husband was in the military . It was the buttons on the jacket that Chris was wearing . They were the same buttons her husband had on his jacket who was in special air services in the military and so she realized who Chris was . From her handbag she took out a purse and handed Chris all the money she had and then asked him to let the thief go , Chris looked at her and then she saluted him as Christ returned the salute , the thief ran away down the street like a rat back to some hole where he had come from .
The lady gave him a her business card m to give her a call when he was ready to have a talk about getting some help with his condition .
She was a health specialist who worked with many soldiers who suffered PTSD . Chris stood there for a few moments thinking . In his mind Chris was still somewhere between the battlefields , he had never really came home but that night he looked at that lady and grasped the lifeline that was presented . He had a chance to return back to life as a civilian all because there was someone who understood what he was going through . So after that night he took the first step in a long road to returning home . He rang her and made an appointment to being part of a program with other war veterans who suffered from post traumatic stress disorder and was able to find camaraderie and acceptance . Within a year he was in a steady job and found a place to live . Every now and then his condition returned however he was able to talk it through with his support team and walk away from those memories to a better place just like the day he was in a queue at a fast food joint . A little uneasiness set in and he was getting impatient just standing there waiting to be served , so he vented his feelings due to his disorder . The woman in front of him told him to settle down and they both had this big argument in the shop .
No female had ever spoke to him like that before and so three years later they were married .
That argument was just the thing he needed . She took control of his emotions and put his fears to rest .
After they were married she said to
him “Chris why don’t you get a job in with the police . You’ve got all the skills . “
He had never thought of that and so he approached the police .
In a year Chris had a role working with special weapons and tactics and fitted in well to the position .
One operation he was on was to smash down a front door to arrest a drug king pin . What a surprise it was when the man he arrested was the same guy who had stole that handbag that night near the liquor store . Every now and then things turn out just right .
Karma was in control .
The End

Two great stories, well
Two great stories, well explained and good to read. I don't know whether either or both of these were actual true stories or not? but good to hear.
