The Fabric Of Multicultural Events
By Paul McCann
When you are in attendance at a multicultural event its like seeing a picture of life as kind of musical jigsaw . Images of people passing by and musicians on stage , food stalls , dancers , those who organise and keep it running smoothly all are parts of the pictures in this puzzle that span together many cultures who enjoy sharing life as a community as one tribe together . We all have a purpose in life . We all have embedded virtues and beliefs like foundation stones of where we come from . This fabric is woven into our soul and it makes us who we are . Wee have our own music and dance , we enjoy our own special kind of food , we have our favourite taste in all aspects of life .
Multicultural event allow us to share and enjoy our music and beliefs with others as well as accepting what others believe in as well as our own . We are all part of life
I remember as a child listening to older folk sharing some old stories about myths and legends of the past . All of those who were gathered in a home or any given meeting place had benefited by the experience of a story or a song . This experience is the essence of all multicultural event allowing poets and storytellers to do the same thing . Memories are often brief images that can be passed from one generation to another of from one tribe to another . These images can be called the gifts of a multicultural society .I think culture and heritage is like a timeless song performed with the delicate precision of a heart surgeon . Now we can keep the heart of that work alive with events that highlight who we are and where we come by sharing our emotions through music and poetry , songs and dance and the food we eat . It essence the taste of life is something that connects us all as one community . .Without that connection we would all walk silently and alone in our tribes . Unnoticed and unseen by other tribes in the global community .
Our tears are the same colour like the blood in our veins . The tracks of our tears can be like a picture of the roads we have travelled through life .
The songs we sing can be a vocal arrangement etched with deep emotions of happiness and hard times blended together with the music that happens along the way . Our history and our future is the rich heritage of life that needs to be shared by others . If you can hear the songs I’m sure you'll find connected to a powerful and personal parts of life in a song . Like the rain that falls or the wanting to dance and be part of a culture that you have a role to play . There are songs sung around the world that call out to be heard and for many musicians and poets there are many
Long may multicultural events continue with the opportunity for us all to bring part of what makes us who we are to others . The fabric of life is an original masterpiece to be shared by all the world .
