The Fights On Me
By Paul McCann
I’m working all week without a break ,
tell me how much can a poor boy take.
Its Boxing day tomorrows coming ,
I’ve got a dream , I’ll tell you something ,
They’ll see the raging tiger in me ,
I’ll open the cage and set it free ,
nothing can stop the fighter in me ,
I’m a wild child and I’m running free , .
So take a front seat there , one , two , three
and ring that bell now .
The fights on me .
I’ll hear the roar of people shouting ,
seconds out and there’s no one’s doubting ,
for a first round knock out it will be ,
a left jab, uppercut , they will see .
the fastest fight there in history .
No kid gloves they’ll be putting on me ,
the only contender in this town ,
fast and furious , putting them down .
So make yourself at home ,
One. two , three ,
time to ring that bell .
The fights on me
I can smell the fear that’s on his face .
It’s time to start and pick up the pace .
Flurry after flurry left and right.
The way its going they’ll stop the fight
Hear the thuds I’ll roll with the punches.
spit that dummy out on your hunches,
he flinches , I land a fast right hook .
In that moment I take one last look .
and pound combinations one two three ,
Ring that bell ,
I said the fights on me.
Rumble tumble he starting to sway,
The crowd starts to scream ,
“Put Him Away”
he’s on the canvas with nothing left ,
the referee counts and takes a breath ,
I’m in the corner he’s on the floor
the tiger in me it starts to roar ,
its over and done now for today ,
there’s another fight coming your way ,
So just take a front seat , one , two . three ,
ring that bell because the fights on me .
