Carl was only an infant when his Father went to war and had to cope with that loss when his Father never returned from battle . For a while Carl never spoke much and would just tinker around his Father's workshop ,hammering and sawing and making small items out of wood .
As he grew Carl continued to make things for the home and he spent most of his spare time in the workshop on projects like making go carts for the young lads in the village who had no toys .
He also made wooden frames for clocks and small furniture items for his Mother, like kitchen cupboards and tables . His Mother was very appreciative of the gift that Carl had .
At primary school they regarded Carl as a dreamer . Frequently his school teacher would have to call his attention to get his focus back to what was being said in the classroom . Carl was always thinking about other things and not all that interested in learning his ABC’s or counting up his 1,2.3’s .
On a good day Carl could talk about many things and he would often ask the teachers questions about very deep and meaningful things with time and space such as ,
“Sir, why do holes in time exist ?” or “Is it possible to measure spiritual time?” or “Sir , do you think it’s possible that there is a fourth dimension ?
This always frustrated the teachers as they never had a clear answer to provide . Carl was a deep thinker and had very inventive and inquisitive mind .
Just before starting high school Carl’s grandfather took him on a holiday to London . His grandfather had a friend who worked on Big Ben and lucky for Carl he had a personal guided tour inside the clock . This made a huge impression on Carl and one he would never forget and for a while he had the idea of doing repairs on clocks and wrist watches . He made some extra money at home doing that ..
Carl was very close to his grandfather , Mr Bone , who was very similar in ways to Carl .
Mr Bone was inventive and he alone was responsible for making Bono Grout Soap that was a product of sheep blubber and course sand that was presented as an alternative to using solvents and greasy gel products in factories and steel workshops . His grandfathers product was remarkably successful and ended up with world wide operations .
Carls grandfather told him .
“Carl it’s not about want , its all about need . So if you can work out what people need and provide that , then you’ll do well in business .
Now in his teenage years Carl had become fascinated with cars and had a desire to buy one for his very own , but not just any car , it had to be one of the most extravagant models of its day .
Now with a steady job as an apprentice engineer Carl borrowed some money to purchase his dream car .
With the passing of years , Carl understood his grandfather was finding it difficult to walk around and he decided to take him on a road trip all over the country in his new car . He even became for him a personal tour guide . This road trip took over six months and during that time his grandfather told him many things about life .
One remarks that was made was
“Carl my boy , the more you know about something , the easier it is to talk about that . Get to know the world around you .“
So with that advice Carl had the idea to start up a travel agency business . He could see that people needed to have a holiday and so he put his energy into providing a service for them which for the next ten years took him to many countries and cities all over the world .
A man of many seasons , Carl had begun to see and experience a lot of new things in his life .
He had to adapt to various things that he encountered on the way . Travel was a great experience and an education as well . It was one way Carl discovered lots of different cultures .
When Carl’s grandfather passed away he inherited a small fortune and with that fortune he had the idea to help homeless people as he could see they had a great need .
Carl was assisted by other business people in a project called Frozen To The Bone . Food handouts and emergency shelter accommodation were two of the items that Carl provided for street people and in return Carl was rewarded with donations from The Government as well as from the Business sectors . With the huge success of helping homeless people Carl had another idea to help those who were old and in need of care and so he created an environment around a nursing home . Each section of the nursing home was designed to look like a different country with statues and items from that culture and so the residents in their old age could feel as if they could live anywhere from Africa to Europe with wonderful themes and activities that supported that theme . It was as if the residents were able to live or travel around any country in the world all within the perimeter of that one aged care facility . Not only was Carl able to provide for the needs of the old people but he was also able to enhance their quality of life . In return that nursing home was so well received that many similar facilities all over the world were built and Carl was written in legally as part of that syndicate which earned him a small percentage of the profit each year .
Towards the end of his life Carl had an idea to build a floating facility that would look after his own needs and so the very first aged care cruise ship was built where Carl spent the rest of his life being cared for in a very special holistic way .
The End
