The Invisible Door
Mr By Paul McCann
Brendan Mongomery lived all alone in Breekfield Manor on the top of Wolf Hill in Leightonfield . He was the last of his family line that went back many generations .
At almost 70 years of age and with no family of his own , there was no one who would inherit his large fortune . He had been considering leaving some of his wealth in the care of a handful of solicitors to be used to benefit the youth of Leightonfield.
His worry was that some greedy developers would try to use his property and land for making money so he hoped that by leaving everything in the hands of a legal team that would never happen .
At night the big home was lonely and there were often strange sounds which made him feel uneasy so he installed security cameras everywhere with a back up power supply. The home had a history with the sightings of a well dressed man wandering around the rooms . Every one who seen him said , he was in always in a hurry disappearing out of sight in seconds . There were seven fireplaces around the home which were kept burning day and night in the winter with an oil supply from three large underground storage tanks .
Brendan enjoyed a quiet life and liked to keep away from people . There were security guards on duty at the main gate 24/7 and alarm systems all around the property .
Brendan had a daily routine everyday . Morning shower followed by breakfast, then he traded on the stock exchange until midday when he stopped for lunch . After lunch he drank until twilight . That was his routine everyday , Brendan was addicted to alcohol all his life , however he managed his business affairs very well and anyone who had ever met him , never knew he had a drinking problem . Then after his regular drinking session Brendan would retire for the day .That routine never changed.
One night just as he was drifting off to sleep he saw a young man walk into his bedroom and then he opened up a door and disappeared out of sight . Now for the first time in his life Brendan couldn’t sleep . He sat up and just stared into space thinking maybe he had just imagined what he saw , but he knew that wasn’t true . So he got out of bed and turned on all the lights and started to look for that door . He went in the direction that he saw the young man disappear and checked but there was no sign of any door.
A voice spoke to him .
“You will never see what is invisible with mortal eyes “
Brendan never felt afraid and for some reason the voice had a calming effect on him
He said in response .
“Can you see what is invisible ?’
“Well as you know you have been invisible for most of your life but regardless all things are visible to me ?
Was the reply .
“Who are you “
Brendan asked ,
“I am the young man you saw who went through the door in your wall “
He said and Brendan replied .
“I cannot see any door ?”
“That’s because you’re looking with mortal eyes ?”
Said the voice .
“Why are you here and telling me all this “
Brendan asked
“Because its time for you to walk away with me through the door of this life. “
“So if it is my time to leave , will I see the invisible door “
“Lets go”
Said the voice
The young man appeared in front of Brendan and walked over to the wall where a door opened
“So that’s the invisible door then ?
“Hurry now , no time to waste . You have much to see .“
Brendan followed the young man out the door to a staircase and the door closed behind them .
The End

Your story reminds me of the
Your story reminds me of the saying:- We come into this life with nothing, and leave with nothing. I wonder! If the young man was Brendan's guardian angel.
An interesting spiritual story Paul.
