An Irishman’s Christmas In Manila
By Paul McCann
it’s almost Christmas in Manila
and I’ve landed here on a flight ,
the snow’s turned into rain
and the little people
are such a welcome sight .
The Christmas spirit’s everywhere
and people are as friendly as can be ,
It’s makes me feel young again
and the little child in me’s been set free .
There’s music on the streets
and there’s tinsel being thrown all over town
I’m thinking I’m going to stay a while
until the new year comes around .
Glory be I’ve woke up this morning
and I can’t believe what I’m seeing ,
the little ones have taken over the town ,
at least for the time being .
They’re playing their pipes and fiddles
and they’re all dancing jigs for the people here ,
it’s a magic Christmas in Manila
with the little one’s near and dear .
They have opened up Irish pubs
with no closing time for people to leave
so you’re all welcome to sit and party on
from Christmas to New year’s eve .
Come on over for a visit
and sure we can all sing a song or two .
It’s a magic Christmas here ,
and the one we all had dreamt of
has come true .
What a feeling it is to be here
with the little people in the crowd
with the Filipinos speaking Irish ,
it really makes me feel so proud .
Snow has covered all the streets
and the rooftops making everything pretty
the little people have come home this Christmas
here in Manila City.
