The Ruins Of A Castle Fair

There’s a castle in County Wexford

that remains in ruins from another century.,

  The fires that once leapt from the seven hearths

were  extinguished to a smoky memory .

Not a prayer is shared now within the chapel

and no love songs can be sung from the bowers

Blood was spilled and those who were killed

would not sip a toast to those in their ivory towers .

Who could measure the words without meter

or the wealth that was lost on the battlefields there .

The pages of history are written with scorn

and the authors have no glory to share .
