A Straight Talking Man
By Paul McCann
See Sorrowful Jones is who I am
but nobody really gives a damn .
Life’s hard but I’m doing what I can
I’m a straight talking , street walking man .
All those dead end streets they have no name,
water in the gutter down the drain .
I’ll keep on walking past just the same .
I’m a street walking man coming through
and I want to be walking with you .
I’m straight talking now , talking to you .
That’s who I am and that’s what I do
All the rocks I break into rubble .
Trying hard to keep out of trouble ,
Waking pace about on the double .
Back into your loving arms again .
To tell you the truth I’m not to blame .
Some people say that they’ve got no shame .
Living on the crooked edge of town
They don’t look up and they don’t look down .
They just keep walking round and around
Nobody moans and nobody owns
any of their massive fancy homes
and look at me here Sorrowful Jones ,
I’m a street walking man around town .
and if the walls should come falling down
I’m sure we’ll turn the whole thing around .
Then you’ll hear me calling out to you
I don’t mind crawling if I need to.
I’m straight talking how I always do .
If you try to run you won’t get far
I’ll tell you something bout who we are
over a few drinks here in a bar ,
and then you will know just who I am
I’m just an honest straight talking man
Trying to do the best that I can.
