The Train To Many Places

Chapter 10

 

 Terror At The Station  

 

It was a new day and everything was ok . The birds were singing in the trees and love was in the air .

Dave had breakfast and soon was on his way to the railway station to catch the  early o’clock train to meet Annie once again .

When the train arrived, he was standing at the exact same spot where he had got off a few days ago . There she was sitting in the same seat with the same red dress and grey jacket .

He made his way into the carriage and sat down on the seat bedside her .\She looked just as beautiful as he had remembered .

They started talking about anything that came into their heads.

Sometimes their eyes would meet and for that moment they were almost pulled together by an invisible embrace .

At the next stop Annie said ,

“Come on then , this is our stop . I’m having a day off work today .“

The train came to a stop and they both got off the train .

Suddenly from nowhere a man wearing a dark blue sports tracksuit approached from the crowd on the platform and produced a semi-automatic machine gun and without any warning he started shooting people at random.

No one is ever ready for anything like that to happen unless you have been through the same experience before . Dave reacted immediately as memories of what had happened to him before resurfaced ,

Some people were lying on the ground with blood coming from their bodies and there was nothing anyone could do for them . Dave sprang into action and rushed forward pinning the man to the ground as he tried to reload his weapon . It was instinct . it was an unplanned response by him to prevent any further loss of  life .

Dave got rid of the weapon and held the gunman in a headlock .

The police had already been informed and were making their way to the station .

 

As the police and paramedics ascended to the scene. Dave released his hold and handed the terrorist over to the police . Annie had watched the entire  process

From a safe place on the platform and was so proud of what Dave had done .

He turned the nightmare around and saved many lives by his immediate action .

Dave stood there with Annie beside him and suddenly in a silent moment , it was like time stood still . Dave saw his wife and four children walking towards him from the end of the railway platform .He was stunned and wasn’t able to speak . He just stood there looking in disbelief .

Annie was unaware of what was happening as she was giving her eyewitness statement to the police .

Dave’s family approached and they all looked so happy and peaceful . It was as if they were now able to leave this world behind and go to the next life .

He watched his family walk into a distant half-light  .

Then a shinning pillar of light fell down from above .

Dave watched as the pillar of light ascended back into the sky and then out of sight . In that moment his family had been taken up.

As strange and eerie as all this was , Dave realised they had gone to the afterlife to another dimension .

There was an organized chaos all around ion the railway platform . News camera crews were arriving and other journalists trying to get the story of what had happened . It was a media frenzy with a lot of stuff to digest .

As Dave stood there with Annie and felt a healing come over him and he knew in his heart that he was meant to be with Annie and his family were happy for him .

”Who are you ?”

A police officer asked .

Dave was awakened from his moment of being in between this and the next life and replied .
“ My name is Dave Malakick”

The police officer said. 

‘Mr Malakick you are hero here today for what you have done “

 Dave gave his account of the incident and asked the police if they could leave the scene and get on with their affairs .

Annie and Dave found a quiet park where they say and started talking about what had happened .

“I can’t say how amazing you are ; however, did you do that , your courageous intervention was like a scene from a move . I’ve never seen anyone move so fast before . You were like a war machine set into action ”
Dave replied .

“I just remember the day my family had been taken away by an armed terrorist and on that railway platform this morning , something took hold of me . There was no plan , no time to think , it all just happened and I knew exactly what I had to do.”

 

Annie put her arms around Dave and they embraced . Annie looked into his eyes and said ,

““My hero , never leave me “

Dave said ,

“I’ll always be here by your side , in good times and bad you can count on me “

Annie replied ,

“You’re like an angel that‘s been sent into my life  I could have died there today if not for you “

Dave held her close and they just sat looking around at the surroundings.

They knew that they would become companions for the rest of their lives and were glad to have someone to share that time with .

everything in its path .

They both spend the rest of the day together before making their way arm in arm to the railway station .

The TV news reported the story of Brave Dave , who had saved many from certain death and he awarded with medals and rewards with a new home and a new job .

Now this was the place where Dave wanted to call his home because he knew that it was where he was meant to be and it was where he wanted to be .

Another interesting thing was that when he checked the travel pass, he noticed that the next day the travel pass would expire .

So, everything was just the way it was planned to be here in this place . This is where he would stay with Annie to start a new life . He wand Annie were at peace with the present and past as well and happy about the days  ahead
