Chapter 6

 

Island At The Bottom Of The Sea

 

He opened his eyes in a hotel room that had a beautiful view of the ocean . He answered the knock on the door and thanked the staff member for bringing his

Breakfast to the room .

 The waiter placed the food on the dining table and left some brochures on sightseeing places and information about cruises and other activities ,

He started to look through the brochures while he was eating breakfast and was interested in some of the jetty boat tours  that went around some of the islands , then he noticed that his travel was accepted by those who did island hopping tour.

 

He made a phone call from his room and the tour company said they could send some transport and collect him from the hotel . Shortly afterwards a tricycle arrived to collect him . Dave had never been in a tricycle before so it was a whole new experience for him as they made their way down through the streets to the jetty .

Dave noticed how much everything had changed around him , the scenery and weather was a lot different to what he had been used to and all the people and places he had seen were like part of a dream . Now he was in a place of tropical conditions . Inside a sense of wonder Dave smiled as he got out of the tricycle at the jetty where a little boat sat tied by a rope to a post on the side of the jetty

The lady who owned the jetty sat there and welcome Dave on board .

He looked out at the water beyond the jetty and thought about the islands he would soon be visiting as well as confronting his fear of being on a boat .

No one came so she untied the boat from its mooring and quickly got back on board the jetty boat , then she blew a kiss from her mouth to the sandy shore they were leaving behind . As the little boat made its way to the sea Dave realised that this was his first time out so far from shore on a boat .

Trying not to panic he tried to find something to distract his mind as the waters were splashing and the wind was crashing all around the little boat .

He thought about flying over the ocean in a plane looking for deserted islands . Then he imagined that he was on a spaceship as a pioneer looking  back at the Earth from a distance . He started to think about how dark it would be in space without any life anywhere in the shadow of humanity where he once used to be .

How different everything would look from a lonely part of the cosmos. Within that train of thought he had forgotten all about his fear of the water .

Out there now on he never heard or felt;  wave after wave tossing the little boat.

around at sea . He was happy to be stranded in thought somewhere in space where he didn’t have to worry or care if the boat capsized or sank,  He was in a happy place at one with the sea and sky where his mind was at ease .

The silence was shattered by the captain and tour guide who said ,

.“Look beyond there . See the island where the storyteller lives. He awaits our visit “:” .

The captain and tour guide directed the jetty boat over to the island to a small shack there by the water’s edge where the storyteller was waiting .

The anchor of the small boat was dropped into the ocean and the captain threw a small rope ladder from the boat into the water for them to disembark for the shore .

Waist deep in water they walked over the storyteller on the shore .

“Welcome Storytellers Island “
He said.

“Thank you “Dave replied and the lady of the jetty boat said. 

“Great to see you again “

The storyteller said.

“So come inside the cottage for a while and I’ll tell you a story about the island at the bottom of the sea “

Dave said ,

“That’s sound like an interesting place. “:

They all made their way to the cottage and they were shown into a room where there was a staircase that went down under the cottage . The staircase went deep down into a chamber and inside that chamber space there was another world in existence .

The storyteller said ,

“This is the only place on earth where sea level as we know it had disappeared into a different dimension . See for yourselves the inner world of Earth that exists and in that inner world there is another ocean with an island known as the Island OI Inner Earth and on that island, there are creatures that no one has ever seen and places where no one has never been before. “

Dave looked through a window at this new world tight in front of his eyes .

He said ,

“I always imagined that could be a  fourth dimensional world aligned but separate to our own world . Now I’m wondering if there is life on that island beneath the sea . “

The storyteller said ,

“The answer to your question is yes there is life , thriving with people , plants and creatures but their life is different to ours .The reality is we cannot exist there among them because we are morals “

Dave asked .

“You mean that island is inhabited ?’”

The Captain of the Jetty boat said.

“I have seen and observed through telescopes myself , the giants of that world where we cannot exist”    ,

Then the tour guide nodded her head and reached him a powerful telescope .

The storyteller said ,

“Look and see for yourself “

Dave took a close look through the telescope and saw the life there on that island and he said ,

“Yes, indeed storyteller I can see . They are all so different that we are . Does anyone on Earth know about their existence ?”

“Only the few who have been chosen and you my friend have a free travel pass which means you are one of the chosen ones “

“Why am I chosen ?”

“We bever ask why , we learn to accept it as it is  “

Said the tour guide  .

The storyteller said.

“In their dimension they have a different life and when we evolve in time that when we are able to exist with them on the Island at the bottom of the sea “

Dave kept observing through the telescope and said ,

‘How long do they live for ? “

The guide replied.

“For an eternity . Come its time to go “

The guide and the storyteller led the way back up the staircase to the cottage and were back at sea level where the surface of the ocean touched the sky on the horizon and everything looked normal again .

 The little jetty boat was waiting by the edge of the sea that was calm and glowing with the sunshine reflecting on the top of the water  .

.The storyteller called out to them .

“Now you have seen ,so you can believe it’s true  . What about all those who have not seen , would they believe if you told them what you have seen ?

Dave replied ,

“I think not for people need to see before they believe . Thank you, storyteller, for showing me this world deep down in a place far below our own “

 

The Captain and Dave both got back on the little boat and made their way back to where they had come from on the shore where the driver of the tricycle was waiting to bring him back to the hotel .

Dave stayed overnight and in the morning, he went to the railway station to catch the next train to the next place on his journey .
