Callum stood,
against the counter,
a pint in one hand,
an expresso, in the other.
His eyes were wide, and his unhinged laughter
shook violently his whole body.
as he cried, in a thick glaswegian twang,
' Let's go to Berlin tonight.
come on, we should go, it'll be a good night'
I laughed back at him, as he downed his expresso
and turned round, to shout for another one.
He had weird teeth, Callum did,
a little crooked and pointed
black, a their sockets.
So then i thought, of Rob Kelly,
who wore a Claddagh ring, turned
towards him- rugged featured Rob Kelly -
raises a drink, and says to me
' We're the best, at what we do,
We are the best at loving.'
I say what d'you mean,
he smile- sure thing Kelly-
sure thing, really, i know, what you're saying
and I looked into his eyes
then turned to the counter, where Callum
had once stood,
and you', had stood
a few seasons ago, reciting
some stupid verse about love, passing time or something of the like,
Rob Kelly-did I tell you
about that winter's night
when i lent on the counter
and the leaning figure ,
next to me- he said;
' Hey how you doing tonight,
where you from
whats your name'
I told him my name,
he looked at me weirdly
then smiled, he had pretty teeth,
slightly pointed, he did,
his eyes stared, unconcealed.
I looked away from them
and listened;
his had a deep voice he did,
with a particular inflection.
