the city lights glowed
a deep purple into the sky,
the night is low
over olive town trees
in silent back gardens
over roofs and rows,
of burgundy brick walls
i stood in the midst
of the shadow of olive trees
staring,
into the sky with no ripples
i walked the plank
with bare feet
one
after
the
other
above, the moon sulked
i waited for the screams
of starving pirates
and desperate sailors but
i only heard somewhere
a little bell ringing
ringing
i walked the plank
into a dark sea with no stars
clutching my fingers i walked
into the sky with no ripples
