Why do you write?

Why do I like to write?
Mere mortals cant
Comprehend the need
To express myself
And fight!
I write because
It takes me out a
Of my head,
Which is good
For my cause.
No razor blades
Do I need in this Toolkit.
I have words now and
Rely on them like
Undertakers do spades.
A blank page is
daunting for some.
I get excited and try
To write stories and
Poems, bliss!
As with a cherry
Blossom. Inspiration
Comes and goes.
The words just dance
Upon the page like fairy’s.
Upon my work I look
And smile. Out of my
Head for these words,
So as not to be
Inside and stuck.
I try with all my might
To bury myself in
A story for then I know
Three hours will pass.
Why do you write?

Hi Niamh,
Hi Niamh,
I'm a bit like you in wanting to express myself. The feeling of enjoyment and relaxation is wonderful. I was never an artist, but I used to enjoy painting a lot, but now I find it easier to write what I enjoy. It all depends on how I feel as to what I write about, but I do enjoy reminiscing on my younger days, when life was so much easier, and full of falling into many adventures.
The best part, is that we're all able to share our feelings on abc tales, which is such a bonus, as I used to write just for myself.
I thought this was a great use of the I P. So it's a big thumbs up from me.
Jenny.

It's a great question. I too
It's a great question. I too do it because it 'takes me out of my head' - you've got that exactly right. I can go where I want to go (and sometimes places I don't really want to go) whenever I want. The blank page does scare me a bit, but I've discovered that if I just cover the blankness with some variety of squiggles for a bit, a thing of sorts will emerge, eventually.
Great IP!
