ISOCELES TRIANGLE

poor augie had a problem
and he knew not what to do
instead of finding one true love
he found he now had two
now this has happened often
and of course, one never wins
but in his situation
the two girls he loved were twins
this too has happened often
it is not a story, fresh
but these two twins were joined
by a connecting band of flesh
the one was known as april
and the other known as may
and they'd be joined together
to their final dying day
so augie never saw one
with the other left behind
and his attraction to them both
began to blow his mind
cause if he chose to marry
which sweet girl would wear his ring ?
and what about the other ?
right along they'd have to bring
the first one kissed was april
and the second was one was may
he thought there'd be some trouble
not one word did either say
but could they love each other
as a threesome all their life ?
and would there be a minister
who'd grant an add-on wife ?
now if you think a threesome
in a marriage would be heaven
skip the stanza, next
and read the stanza marked eleven
or if you have the notion
that in further we should delve
skip the stanza, next
and read the verse that's labeled twelve
11
there found a parson willing
to pronounce them man and wives
and they formed a perfect triad
and were happy all their lives....THE END
12
he proposed to dearest april
and she said she'd be his bride
and may, so happy for them
just committed suicide...THE END
now if you hate this ending
and you think its rather mean
forget you read that stanza
and move on to verse fourteen
14
he then proposed to april
which made may begin to laugh
she suggested a magician
who could saw a girl in half
if you think that that would do it
then just read the stanza next
if you think that that is stupid
maybe seventeen'd be best
they found a touring circus
and the man in charge said, "great"
when may was separated
april set the wedding date...THE END
17
"that will not do", said april
we can never be apart
although we seem two separate souls
in fact we share a heart
"but we could find a transplant"
augie, merrily, did chime
"and these days, inexpensive
they're a dozen to a dime"
and if you like that notion
stanza twenty should be fun
if you don't like the sound of it
move on to twenty-one
20
the heart they found was perfect
no rejection had occurred
augie married april
they'd removed the other third...THE END
21
but april was aghast at this
"we must not risk her life
we'll have to find a separate groom
who'll take her for a wife"
so if you think a foursome
would be something of a chore
read the stanza, next
if not, then move to twenty-four
"this shall not work", said augie
"it is too much to conceive
so, goodbye may and april
it is time that i should leave...THE END
24
"i think you're right", said augie
"we shall find another man
but it must be a perfect fit
i hope you understand"
now augie had a brother
who decided may was cool
so augie married april
while her sister married jules...THE END
now if you like that ending
there is no need to proceed
but if you find it wanting
there is one more you can read
this poem has made me crazy
so i'm gonna go back home
if you wish it to continue
you can write your own damn poem...DEFINITELY THE END
