Simple Dreams

Sometimes I wish I was back at school
young enough to be carefree and laugh and play the fool.

Looking at life's intricate complexities
through the simple eyes of youth.

Taking life as it comes
never doubting nor demanding proof.

But with reality comes the passing of years
and a keen student becomes an old fool

who sits, his head filled with knowledge
and dreams of laughter in school.
