An Ode to Life

Fingers held in shattered glass
Blood held in broken bones
Heart encased in bitter laughs
Flowers killed by jagged stones
Bodies touch in golden sky
Souls meet at heaven’s throes
Lips unite as angels die
Legs entwine as age-old foes
Touches smile at new-found love
Heart jumps with new life
Tears from the burning stove
Eyes with the freshest light
Kiss bestowed lightly
Upon the shut eyelid
Words whispered rightly
Beside him whom she killed
Underneath the pictures stir
Memories anew
But between their sleeping bodies
Is something no one knew
A shard there
But no one sees
A golden mare
Between the trees
White as snow
Heart full of strife
She sings aloud-
An ode to life
