The Space Between

The waters rise to the thunder,
demanding it cease.
The space between devours light;
The vacuum torn, then darkness.
A bird’s wings hold firm to gales,
there is no respite
To the freeze and bluster, her
eyes madly darting, waiting
Momentarily held in chaos
before being flung
in a cyclone of ripped feathers and rain,
rocks wait to break her.
Crimson waters wash the bird
back toward the storm.
The rain and waters collide;
The space between is lost

This is a nice piece, Oliver, it flows very smoothly and the language is rather beautiful. Is the prose version still on, or have you deleted it?
Pwersonally I would put commas after 'gales' and 'rain', but that's just my opinion, it's entirely up to you.

Lovely Poem, sad but very well written. The stormy seas are always fascinating they hold something melodramatic. Thanks for postin Bern

Hello Oliver. I just came
Hello Oliver. I just came in from taking the children up to the river for a picnic (first warm afternoon) and I wanted to check the recently cherried list to see what I had missed. I was delighted to see this work on the list.
It was very generous to give me a name check but unnecessary as well. You took all the editorial and writing decisions yourself to come up with what I think is a very good piece of writing indeed. This is what I love about this site.
Well done on a good poem and deserved accolade. Write on.
