You are so certain of our union
that you no longer ask for my hand
and I think of you standing
there in your black suit and sunglasses
looking every inch the poet,
prepared to vow your life away
for the sake of love and
eternity, while I stand next to you
holding a black umbrella,
looking every inch the muse
crying diamond tears that
you will kiss from my cheeks
with your perfect lips and
once swallowed, they will become
the words you will spill across the page
tracing your love upon the stars.
