St.Bored the Dragon Slayer

The whole tin of rice pudding
Sitting there with a spoon in its guts
And the hum of the fridge
And the half opened packet of nuts
On this lonesome table
On this gloomy and horrible day
Something sparks
That keeps me at bay
The time has come
With the rain on the ancient floor
And the volcano in the distance
Spurting magma from earths core
I’m not awake
But still totally alive
Once bored and solitary
But now ready to thrive
On with the chain mail
And out with my sword
Open with the door
And shut with the bored
The lightning acting wild
And the birds flying free
In the orange sky
With the rain poring on me
The dragon awakes
And roars before my presence
But its wrath overwhelms me
And predicts my path into heaven
But I shall not fall
Before this mythical beast
I sharpen my eyes
And with a screech
The dragon swishes
Its humungous head
And bellows out fire
But I won’t settle for dead
With all my strength and force
I uphold my blade
Then curse the dragon
And rival the flame
The attack was over
But the real fight was nigh
The thunder roared
Throughout the unearthly sky
Its claw lunged viciously
Before my tiny soul
But I stood my ground
Because I am the one in control
My sword pierced with vengeance
Through the dragon’s claw
And as it retreated, angrily,
It stumbled to the floor
But again it rose
As if wanting more
With its evil eyes
And its revengeful claw
Its head flew forward
Like a drowning goat
And with a swish
I slit its scaly throat
It cried in pain
And fell to the soaking floor
And with a fading groan
It was no more
Then the sky turned blue
And the sword disappeared
And the silenced dragon vanished
But one thing was clear
I could only imagine
What it would be like to be brave
On this rainy evening
On this lonely day…
