they can get away with anything they want.

Though they must wonder if they are kind of like foxes - only allowed to exist so tabloids can chase them?

I was thinking, there goes your chances of being Poet Laureate.

As a republican, though, I think its an interesting/arresting simile and a very valid point.

Are presidents not allowed laureates? Seems a bit discriminatory.
