Scraps of Aragón

Scrap 1 - Surplice
In the cavernous presence of Pilar
One confessional sits slightly ajar
A surplice enticingly set
Like the haunch of Benavente’s
Ambiguous hooker
Scrap 2 - Buzzards
Buzzards wheel in an empty sky
and time passes by
I feel like that sky sometimes
It would be a deceit
if I said that I don’t know why
Scrap 3 - Dreams
Follow your dreams, people say
But most of the time it’s the other way
The dreams keep following me
Scrap 4 – Trees
The cathedral crumbles above the trees
The Church is out to lunch
Two girls read end-to-end upon the fountain wall
The children have been called home
The flies have become still
Nothing's moving on earth except the breeze

Great idea - scraps. But they
Great idea - scraps. But they still have a structure. 2 and 3 seem more introspective and 1 and 4 a snapshot of what you see. When I read them they seemed like a short brief, each for a short story/scene which put together make a whole. But I guess the relaxing thing about scraps is not having to persue them in that way. I enjoyed them.
