The Powers That Be

They screw with you, the powers that be,

They'll f*ck you in the head.

They'll grind your spirit under foot

Till you or it are dead.

And if you dare to make a stand

Instead of trying to please,

They'll use their rank and rule of law

To bring you to your knees.

For man was born to serve or rule,

That's how it's always been.

Most labour for the favoured few;

There's little in between.

And if you think that much has changed

And merit now holds sway,

Know inequality is still

The order of the day.

So doff your cap and bow your head

And eschew standing tall,

Lest some day you find yourself

Lined up against the wall.
