You were always there

You were there
At the front bench, wild and young
Where my glimpses fell
And my hopes dissolved
Oh, you were there
Sitting next to me
Introducing yourself
Letting me know you were real.
You were there
Looking into my eyes
Living for every stare
Caressing me with a smile.
You were there
Became my Heaven and Hell
Protected me from despair
Keeping me under your spell.
And you were there
When I began not to be
Enduring more than you could bear
While all I meant was deceit.
You were still there
And I just didn’t know why
I had begun not to care
I didn’t give it a try.
You were also there
when you began not to be
God must have answered your prayers
The loving one now was me.
There, there you were
And all my efforts came late
You had begun not to care
Then the rest was just fate.
And still you were there
While I just swum without arms
Love was long dead in your stare
But my heart kept chasing your star.
At last you were, you had to be
There, so was I, devoid of hope
It was the end, it had to be
We’d lost ourselves, our souls were worn.
As you can see, you were always there
Like someone one day will
But I won’t fail then, I swear
Unless I find you there still.
