Winter's Tale

In the dead of winter
The winds do chill
For this winter’s tale
Of love and will...
Fie on this day
So bleak and cold
I fear the battle
Takes his soul
And left mine
Here adrift
Alone
This war too long
Has raged and bled
The death lists
Tell the story
Its cold dispassion
Brings me fear
Like this tempest
Of a storm
When will it end?
Bring home my love
She asked the ancient
Gods above
A cold wind tossed
The trees to ground
And blew the snow
Around her
Defiantly
She stood untouched
And a warm breeze
Did surround her
Her fragile soul
Her only shield
Against
The winter beast
His cold winds
Rattled all but her
and one patch of earth
Denied him
Relinquished from
The snowy land
A sun kissed path
A buried rose
with petals red did blind her
What means this sign?
She asked the wind
Now tame
And barely blowing
The answer
Growled the chilly wind
Was standing right
Behind her
Warm arms
Encircled
Pulled her
Close
It was
Her love
Beside her

This is so captivating Penny
This is so captivating Penny and reminds me of the Pre-Raphaelites which I so love. I could imagine a maiden or a queen waiting for her beloved to return from war. It also fits in perfectly with the I P.
Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.

Agree with Jenny - it does
Agree with Jenny - it does have a pre-Raphaelite feel to it. Lovely take on the IP, really enjoyed reading it.
