Threads

This is North
in its many shades of white,
we stand on the brink
of the Arctic Circle -
much further
and we´ll start heading South.
An invisible thread tugs
as I note the symmetry
of this monochrome negative
with that green and blue childhood
on an other volcanic island -
so very far away.
We´re drawn to the edge -
look either way
back or forth
there is always more,
we are always at the heart of things -
so no edge at all
fraying -
leaving broken threads
exposed.

A lovely picture of the bare snowy north. Quite a contrast to that 'other island!? Rhiannon

I agree, this is spare,
I agree, this is spare, biting, monochromatic beauty. Having seen how much new stuff you've got up Phil shows me that I simply don't have enough time for everything. Going to have to make more room, maybe build an extension.
Really good series, this.

Hi Helen
Hi Helen
We too made lots of comparisons between Iceland and New Zealand. The glaciers were fascinating and frightening.
Happy Easter.

I like the way you link place
I like the way you link place, time and memories with thread. I always yearn to see beyond horizons. I find that, as I get older, the threads become chains. Nice, thoughtful piece, Philip.
