She Dances

She dances in the sheets at night,
She dances to his needs
She dances ‘til he feels just right,
Until he falls asleep
She dances at the crack of dawn,
And quickly cooks his food
She cannot be late and take too long,
The kids must get to school
She dances for the men at work,
As she manipulates that pole
She smiles but inside she’s hurt,
Electric eyes make her feel cold
She dances to the kitchen stove,
Dinner is served by nine
Hubby says she is an hour late,
An so she must pay a fine
He takes off his leather belt,
And begins to strike
She cries at the pain that is felt,
She is running out of time
She works so hard, just to make her way,
For a man who just doesn't appreciate
And though he takes her love in vain,
SHE CANNOT BREAK FROM HIS CHAINS
That night she danced in her dreams,
Whilst unconscious in the emergency room
She was awoken by the sound of her scream,
As nurses treated her superficial wounds
She danced through the night as she cried,
She danced to a beat of her own
She wiped her tears and swallowed her pride,
She knew she was needed back home
