The brightest people I know

don't all have college degrees

rather learning all they know now

through plying their trades with ease

The wisest people I know

chose to shoot the rules in the head

and opt for the road less travelled

by walking the path far less tread

The smartest people I know

don't shop on the street, in the mall

but collage their own creations

and fashion them all long haul

The kindest people I know

neither brag, donate nor pretend

never crow nor fawn all upon you

at churches on every weekend

The deepest people I know

having trawled the floor of their soul

were brought up to the surface through love

and find this is what makes them whole

Thanks Blighters Rock and Jenny. I'm glad this poem was well received - it's my favourite so far and I passionately believe all of it. It was inspired by a young person I met this week, a school dodger and trying several jobs, who worked with the kids on a recent school trip. So much to offer.
