Finding Peace

The music was obnoxiously loud but I didn't mind. It was my parents song. One they danced to on special occasions and just generally whenever they felt like it. I was listening to it on repeat trying to drown out my feelings. The sadness. The depression. The utter emptiness of loss. Though I was trying as hard as I could, it was not helping. I continued to listen to it anyway.
I had been moping around for a month now. Every day blending into the next. Days spent watching old videos of the four of us on family outings, or special occasions, or even just random snippets that they or I had filmed. The amount of loss I had experienced was too much for me to handle. Both my mother and father had died in a fire that had burned down the house that we had lived in since before I was born. Not only did I lose parents, but also my older sister, Billie. Her and I had been close, though like all siblings we didn't get along all the time.
Drifting around in space in the family spaceship was my way of trying to heal. I had inherited it after they had passed. Taking off shortly after the funeral and all of the funds my parents and sister had accrued, I ended up avoiding as many people as possible. I figured that would be the best since I didn't want to explain anything to anyone other than those that I bumped into. Besides, everyone would find out eventually. So there I was, laying in bed, trying to drown my thoughts out when suddenly everything went quiet.
"Incoming transmission from unknown caller." My Computer announced over the intercom.
That peaked my interest. I hadn't had anything nor anyone come across me in the entire time I had been slowly drifting around the ever infinite void of space. My Computer repeated itself three times before I decided to get out of bed. I made my way to the control deck and sat in the 'Captain's Chair'. As I got situated in my chair green words flashed across the windows, the same words my Computer had now repeated six times since I had gotten out of bed. Apparently whoever it was on the other end was quite patient.
"Would you like to answer the transmission?" My Computer asked.
"Yes, I would certainly like that." I said with a sigh.
There was a short bzzt and then the screen changed.
