The Last Night
Chapter 8
Where The Sun Never Sets
25
The cold light of a trillion distant stars speckled the infinite blackness The Strion Concord called home. Their ship; was not actually a ship, but a quasi- organic extension of flesh mind, spirit and will.
Its’ cavernous interior a gleaming rib cage of beige porcelain trim work and gleaming glass panels. It encapsulated and displayed its’ ornate furnishings and devices, in such a way that they looked grown from the glass floor rather than simply placed.
Ariel, Wyatt and Forrest lay side by side on pedestaled beds. Each fully clothed and snugly wrapped in thick gray blankets. From the far end of the room, facing their feet, two Incredibly tall beings entered and approached.
“What are we to do with you, my little relicts?” Asked a seven-foot-tall woman dressed in a hooded white gown. Her skin, pale. Flawless. Her features, though beautiful and feminine were clearly inhuman, elongated beyond anything resembling a human face.
“Drias! Don’t use your English tongue.” Warned her male counterpart, who was also dressed in a hooded robe, “Their minds are open, I can feel them moving behind their eyelids. They will understand.”
“Understand what? Korus. We do not understand. Their deepness is thousands of years old. Their existence is remarkable. I want them to hear our words, study our ways. How else can we learn of them?”
“Mysteries are always rife with unseen consequences. These, anomalies, could end us!”
“We have been studying Earth for hundreds of years and never sensed these wonders. Surely you desire to know their origins.”
“No. I do not.” He jerked away from them and rushed away. “Come.”
“Korus, your tone is not appreciated,” Her long face shrank into a terrifying scowl, when she chased him away from her charges, “nor will it be tolerated.”

“Forgive me Madam Drias. These primitives may well be a threat. They should be eliminated.” He insisted, just as she closed the gap between them with alarming speed and pinned him against the curved glass near the rear entrance.
“Leave us.”
“Madam…”
“Now!”
She released him. He scuttled to the porcelain door panel. It vanished a millisecond before he exited, then reappeared just as quickly.
Drias eased back to the strange trio, bent over Arial, stroked her cheek. A sweet smile warped her alien visage in a most disturbing fashion. She did not smile often. “Even the snails want you gone,” She cooed. “You called them greys. But you are not waste, not at all impure. You are a perfect question. And I love those.”
Ariel stirred. Drias pulled back. A low moan escaped her waking body. The alien turned her face away from her.
“Where? Wyatt!”
“He is here, with you.” Drias’ voice had a high-pitched flute- like quality. Her words were more musical notes than mere utterances.
“The cylinder.”
“Yes one could call it that. It is, however, so much more than a classic shape. It lives.” Drias offered that tidy bit of information without hesitation. “Do not fear. Your presence is cherished.”
“Thank, you.” Arial sat up and released a sigh of relief when she saw Wyatt and Forrest on either side of her. “Are you afraid?” Arial asked when she saw the impossibly tall woman had turned away from her.
“My appearance may shock you. You know nothing of what lies beyond your world.”
“Please show me your face.”
“Such courage and compassion, from…”
“A primitive?”
“I would not have called you that.”

“But I am primitive. But not because I was born on Earth.”
“You know?”
“Suspect, and so does my father-in-law.”
Just then Wyatt and Forrest rolled toward Arial.
“Who are you ta…”
“Wyatt Forrest, we are not alone.” Ariel whispered.
Even Drias smiled at the dry obvious statement and its’ profound implications.
“We have never been alone.” Drias could not resist.
“You watch ancient aliens?” Arial giggled. Forrest and Wyatt exchanged dumbfounded looks.
“You are. Resilient,” said the alien as she turned toward them.
“More like relieved.” Forrest added. “Wow, not a dream.”
“No. A revelation.” Drias, still had her face turned away.
“Are you afraid?” Wyatt asked, his tone was soft.
Drias rose up to her full height giving them a full view of her body. She studied their reaction. “Unexpected. Something within has been preparing you for this. That is obvious.”
“My wife.” Forrest remembered.
“Yes, she will be worried.” Drias turned toward Forrest. “That is something we can do nothing about, at least for the time being. I must obey my superiors. They will make the final determination concerning your future.”
“Oh, that’s not good.” Wyatt said.
“You pursued your fate.” Drias stated flatly, “And now you have it.”
“They were driving me mad.” Wyatt reached and took Arial’s hand.
“The greys. Yes multidimensional creatures. They remove anomalies secure planes of existence. It seems earth is full of anomalies.”
“Remove, you mean kill?” Ariel asked. “We’re not the only odd humans? Are we?”

I like the name Drias and Korus, such great names for Aliens. Also the picture is so cool too.
Now I'm wondering what will happen to Ariel, Wyatt and Forrest! Will look forward to finding out.
Jenny.
