Entrusted

Why? Oh, why? O why are
children starved, and under fire,
abducted, forced to fight
by those who have no right,
despise their cruel plight,
and teach the kids to hate and spite,
take pleasure in the blood and pain
again, again, again …
and others left to roam a street
from which the rockets flew –
retaliation will soon fall
at feet of those so small
– and for more vengeance call.
Poisonous hatred kills,
perverted pleasure
in human agony instills,
no love, compassion for the torture,
no pity, self-examination in the picture,
deliberately inciting,
ugly, violence vile, wild fighting.
But in our land so many kids are left alone
to plough unaided through their fears,
in mires foul of films to fumble,
on filth of internet to stumble,
smothered with much ‘goods’ and money,
and care that's fickle, flimsy, phoney,
lacking nothing but affection,
rudderless, without direction,
valuable, vulnerable.

HI Rhiannon
HI Rhiannon
This is powerful stuff. I like the way you paint the problems of the war torn areas, and then talk about how we have problems of our own, as bad if not worse in many ways.
