Downtown Halifax Pub
Nineteen means
legal chug-a-lugging
cold drafts
in two's and three's
money just paper moving from
one pocket to another
university lads glad
to share another round.
The waitress happy
with this kind of crowd
stale jokes and lots of laughter
orders of fish ‘n chips
‘n beer and more beer, a
noisy bunch, tips are good
some can't down a glass fast
enough and the
porcelain bowl always
awaits another customer.
Excitement is a voyeur winding
through the melee
accepting new gossip
along with
another round of drinks.
