An Encounter With Self
By Richard L. Provencher
- 996 reads
I chase fireflies
as eye-light changes
to dim
and loons begin to trill
with delight-
As I lay in my
tent the sky
is full of dark echoes.
Nature earns my attention:
bears must be moving
furtively in my direction
and I hope those squeaky sounds
are rabbits playing tag
among the willows.
I weep for morning
as the darkness finally falls
into slumber and peace.

Thank you Richard L Provencher for slowing my moments as I shared your sensitive experience of one of nature's quiet moments. Marcia

You seem to have built up
You seem to have built up such a store of memories, Richard, that must give you much pleasure now, and pleasure to share in word-pictures. Rhiannon

Oh! This is magic! I have never seen a firefly, you are lucky, thankyou so much for sharing your memory :0) Although I don't think I would be brave enough to camp if there might be bears. I love "the sky /is full of dark echoes" it immediately conjures up the feeling of the vast hall of Heaven

A familiar theme for another
A familiar theme for another of your poems, Richard. Out camping listening to the trill of loons. Beautiful moments captured in verse.
