As I Count to Ten

When the sky goes to sleep tonight
I will think of you
as you melt into my side
warmth like the sun that whisked
against my face today
I will think of the way cars
almost flew down the roadway
drivers so serious I had
to send a smile chasing after them.
I will think of swooping
delight chickadees
have as they dip and dive-dive
into a wedge of freedom sky
and my rest will complete me.
